Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Fleet Technician III to serve as the technical go-to in the shop, performing advanced multi-trade refurbishment and repairs on mobile storage equipment. The role requires coaching and mentoring other technicians, ensuring safety and quality, and coordinating workflow to maximize shop efficiency.

Responsibilities include diagnosis across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues, plus field diagnostics and customer communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in construction and repairing and maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and expert tool knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and complex work instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced multi-trade diagnostics and refurbishment on mobile storage equipment, completing work accurately, on time, and within budget.
• Diagnose and resolve non-standard problems requiring advanced technical knowledge across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related trades.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring to the service team, guiding workflow, quality, and safety standards.
• Coordinate workflow and task prioritization to maintain shop efficiency and safety.
• Lead customer communication for complex technical issues and manage expectations.
