Job summary

Royal Ambulance in San Francisco seeks a Major Repair Specialist – Senior Fleet Technician to tackle complex mechanical repairs and keep our ambulance fleet mission-ready. You’ll handle engine, transmission, and diagnostics work in-house, reducing outsourcing dependence.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of automotive repair, Ford chassis experience, ASE or Ford Factory certifications, and the tools to lead high-level projects while maintaining safety and reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

5+ years of automotive mechanic experience with engine and transmission removal/installation.
Extensive experience with Ford Transit, Ford E-350, and Ford E-450 vehicles.
Clean driving record.
Own tools for major mechanical repair work.
Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking.
Ford Factory certifications or willingness to obtain them.
ASE Certifications.
Diagnostic software experience.
Ambulance, emergency vehicle, or medical equipment experience.

Responsibilities

Remove and replace engines and transmissions.
Perform full cooling system repairs including radiators, hoses, and water pumps.
Complete internal engine repairs including head gaskets and timing components.
Perform major suspension and chassis repairs as needed.
Support Journeyman Technicians on complex repairs.
Perform gurney preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
Adjust or replace antler rails and lock bars.
