Job summary

Royal Ambulance in San Francisco seeks a Major Repair Specialist – Senior Fleet Technician to tackle complex mechanical repairs and keep our ambulance fleet mission-ready. You’ll handle engine, transmission, and diagnostics work in-house, reducing outsourcing dependence.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of automotive repair, Ford chassis experience, ASE or Ford Factory certifications, and the tools to lead high-level projects while maintaining safety and reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive mechanic experience with engine and transmission removal/installation.
• Extensive experience with Ford Transit, Ford E-350, and Ford E-450 vehicles.
• Clean driving record.
• Own tools for major mechanical repair work.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking.
• Ford Factory certifications or willingness to obtain them.
• ASE Certifications.
• Diagnostic software experience.
• Ambulance, emergency vehicle, or medical equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Remove and replace engines and transmissions.
• Perform full cooling system repairs including radiators, hoses, and water pumps.
• Complete internal engine repairs including head gaskets and timing components.
• Perform major suspension and chassis repairs as needed.
• Support Journeyman Technicians on complex repairs.
• Perform gurney preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Adjust or replace antler rails and lock bars.
