Job summary

Mustang Rental Services, based in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Fleet Manager to lead enterprise fleet strategy, utilization, and capital deployment across rental operations. You will ensure the right equipment is in the right place at the right time, while maximizing ROIC and supporting profitable growth across Rental Services and Heavy Rents.

The ideal candidate brings strong equipment rental or fleet experience, financial and analytical capability, and hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in fleet management, asset management, equipment rental, or similar.
• Experience in equipment rental, heavy equipment, construction, or related industries preferred.
• Experience managing a large diversified equipment or asset portfolio.
• Strong financial acumen, including ROI analysis, capital planning, and forecasting.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, or Business preferred.
• Ability to analyze data and translate findings into operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute fleet strategies aligned with revenue growth and ROIC.
• Plan and manage purchases, redeployments, rotations, and dispositions.
• Optimize fleet mix across core rental, specialty, and Heavy Rents equipment.
• Monitor utilization, time on rent, idle assets and KPIs.
• Identify underperforming equipment and reposition or dispose.
• Lead capital investments based on demand and ROI.
• Coordinate fleet positioning across branch network.
• Ensure equipment availability for large projects and seasonal demand.
• Manage lifecycle from acquisition through disposition.
• Collaborate with Sales to align fleet with demand and growth.
• Improve fleet readiness with Operations and Service leadership.
• Work with Central Logistics to minimize transport costs.
• Develop fleet dashboards and performance analytics.
• Provide leadership with data-driven fleet recommendations.

Mustang Rental Services is seeking an experienced Senior Fleet Manager to lead fleet strategy, utilization, and capital deployment across our rental operations. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring we have the right equipment, in the right location, at the right time—while maximizing utilization, improving return on invested capital (ROIC), and supporting profitable growth across our Rental Services and Heavy Rents operations.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of equipment rental or fleet experience, financial and analytical capability, and operational execution. You’ll work closely with Sales, Operations, Service, Logistics, and senior leadership to make data-driven decisions that improve fleet performance across our branch network.

What You’ll Do

As our Senior Fleet Manager, you’ll own enterprise fleet strategy and performance, including:

• Develop and execute fleet strategies aligned with revenue growth and ROIC objectives
• Plan and manage equipment purchases, redeployments, rotations, and dispositions
• Optimize fleet mix across core rental, specialty, and Heavy Rents equipment
• Monitor fleet utilization, time on rent, idle assets, and other key performance indicators
• Identify underperforming equipment and lead decisions to reposition, re-rent, or dispose of assets
• Prioritize capital investments based on demand, utilization, financial returns, and business needs
• Lead fleet positioning and rotation strategies across our branch network
• Ensure equipment availability supports large projects, seasonal demand, and growth opportunities
• Manage the equipment lifecycle from acquisition through disposition
• Evaluate fleet age, maintenance costs, utilization, ROI, and overall asset performance
• Partner with Sales to align fleet availability with customer demand and growth strategies
• Collaborate with Operations and Service leadership to improve fleet readiness and reduce downtime
• Partner with Central Logistics to improve equipment movement and minimize unnecessary transportation costs
• Develop fleet dashboards, reporting, and performance analytics
• Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations regarding fleet performance and capital deployment

What We’re Looking For

• 7–10 years of experience in fleet management, asset management, equipment rental, or other capital-intensive operations
• Experience within equipment rental, heavy equipment, construction, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred
• Experience managing a large, diversified equipment or asset portfolio
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
• Strong understanding of equipment utilization, asset lifecycle management, and fleet economics
• Strong financial acumen, including ROI analysis, capital planning, and forecasting
• Ability to analyze data and translate findings into practical operational decisions
• Experience with fleet management systems, reporting tools, and analytics
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills
• Ability to operate effectively across both corporate and field environments
