Job summary

Mustang Rental Services in Houston, TX seeks a Fleet Specialist to optimize the performance, utilization, and movement of our rental equipment fleet across the Houston and Beaumont region. You will track asset performance, maintain accurate fleet data, and help ensure equipment is positioned where needed most.

In this role, you will work closely with the Fleet Manager and branch teams to convert data into actionable decisions, supporting rotations, pricing input, and readiness for large customer

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in fleet operations, analytics, logistics, asset management, or related field.
• Experience with ERP, fleet management, or asset tracking systems; strong Excel and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor fleet utilization, time on rent, idle equipment, age, and overall asset performance.
• Maintain fleet dashboards and recurring performance reports.
• Analyze equipment performance to identify underutilized or underperforming assets.
• Ensure fleet information is accurate within ERP and asset tracking systems.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Operations, and Service teams to track equipment movement.
• Support equipment rotations, transfers, and repositioning between branches.

Mustang Rental Services is looking for a Fleet Specialist to support the performance, utilization, and movement of our rental equipment fleet across the Houston and Beaumont region.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data but also wants to be connected to day-to-day operations. You’ll work closely with our Fleet Manager and branch teams to track equipment performance, maintain accurate fleet information, identify underutilized assets, and help ensure equipment is positioned where it is needed most.

What You’ll Do

As a Fleet Specialist, you’ll help provide the visibility and information needed to make effective fleet decisions across our rental operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitor fleet utilization, time on rent, idle equipment, age, and overall asset performance
• Maintain and update fleet dashboards and recurring performance reports
• Analyze equipment performance to identify underutilized or underperforming assets
• Ensure fleet information is accurate and complete within ERP and asset tracking systems
• Maintain equipment records including location, availability, status, and lifecycle stage
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies that could impact fleet decisions
• Support equipment rotations, transfers, and repositioning between branches
• Coordinate with Logistics, Operations, and Service teams to track equipment movement and readiness
• Monitor idle equipment and identify opportunities for redeployment
• Provide fleet availability and inventory insights to Sales and Operations
• Assist with equipment disposition tracking, documentation, and readiness
• Support fleet planning for large customer jobs and changing equipment demand
• Prepare data and analysis to support pricing, operational, and fleet investment decisions

What We’re Looking For

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field preferred
• 2–5 years of experience in fleet operations, analytics, logistics, asset management, equipment coordination, or a related field
• Equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or logistics experience preferred
• Experience working with ERP, fleet management, or asset tracking systems preferredStrong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
• Ability to interpret operational data and identify actionable trends
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
• Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments and locations
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
