Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician IV – Fleet to perform journey-level mechanical work on light to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Based in a high-impact environment, you will ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency of the district’s diverse fleet, including hybrids, generators, and construction machinery.

You will execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, generate work orders in MMS, and support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency plus a minimum of 6 years in automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Or diploma plus journey-level skills through a certified automotive trade program and/or related industrial experience.
• Experience and knowledge of inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of automotive equipment including pumps, compressors, and heavy equipment, with skills in mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, welding, and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex engine, transmission, and emission systems.
• Maintain electrical, hydraulic, air brake, and ABS systems across on-road/off-road equipment.
• Perform 90-day fleet inspections to meet safety and environmental standards.
• Service a wide array of fleet assets including heavy equipment and generators.
• Use a Maintenance Management System to generate work orders, track inventory, and document compliance.
• Provide maintenance support for daily operations and major shutdowns.
