Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician IV - Fleet to perform journey-level mechanical work on a diverse fleet, from hybrid cars to heavy construction machinery. You will ensure safety, quality and efficiency across operations and during planned facility shutdowns.

Based in a high-impact environment, you will execute preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnose complex systems, and support emergency response when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years in automotive/heavy equipment maintenance.
• Practical application of mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, welding and electronics.
• Experience with gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles and various heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex systems on light to heavy fleet vehicles.
• Maintain and repair automotive electrical, hydraulic, air brake, and ABS systems.
• Perform routine fleet inspections for safety and environmental standards.
• Service a wide range of fleet assets including construction equipment and generators.
• Use MMS to generate work orders, track inventory, and document regulatory data.
• Provide maintenance support during daily operations and shutdowns.
