Job summary

131 Department of Corrections—Consolidated Vehicle Fleet is seeking a Fleet Specialist V to oversee the repair and maintenance of state vehicles and equipment. The role includes diagnosing, repairing, and coordinating preventative services, with supervisory responsibilities in a busy on-site facility.

The position requires six years of related experience or an equivalent education/experience combination, along with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in automobile, truck, heavy equipment maintenance or repair.
• Ability to explain technical diagnoses to non-mechanical personnel.
• Experience supervising a repair facility or team preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on state vehicles and equipment; diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems.
• Operate diagnostic tools and weld and fabricate as needed.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment; inspect equipment for safety and proper function.
• Manage inventory, order parts, and assist in budgeting for the unit.
• Supervise facility operations and provide training to staff; coordinate work priorities.
