Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Fixed Wing Pilot based at Cortez Air Base, CO, to ensure safe and efficient aircraft operations in accordance with federal regulations and company policies. The role emphasizes preflight planning, crew communication, and safety in patient transports.

The position requires substantial flight hours (External/Internal candidates), ATP/CTP prerequisites, and ongoing involvement in training and mentoring within a safety-focused program.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Commercial certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and instrument airplane; eligible to complete an ATP CTP course within one year of employment.
• 2500 Hours in Airplanes (External Candidates).
• ATP rating for Multi-Engine Airplanes; 3000 Hours in Airplanes; 1000 hours Multi-Engine.
• 200 flight hours at hours in airplanes at night.
• 300 flight hours instrument, of which 100 in actual instrument.
• 500 Pilot in Command flight hours in a multi-engine airplane.
• 500 Pilot in Command flight hours in a turbine airplane.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate aircraft in accordance with federal regulations, manufacturer’s recommendations, and Intermountain policies.
• Demonstrate independent critical thinking in preflight planning and flight operations.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members, communication specialists, and patients/family members; coordinate decision making where possible.
• Ensure aircraft is clean and functioning; maintain a safe environment for crew and patients.
• Participate in education and development of peers and mentors; support training programs.
• Act as Lead Pilot for satellite base functions and corrective action when rules are not followed.
• Evaluate pilot performance as Instructor/Check Pilot and participate in quality improvement.
• Mentor Second-in-Command pilots under the Pilot Development Program.
• Monitor safety issues and participate in Safety Committee activities.
