Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced embedded software/firmware engineer to develop ROM code, bootloaders, and secure enclave software for complex ASICs/SoCs. You will work with ASIC, hardware, and security teams to define interfaces, implement secure boot, and enable OTA updates in a high-reliability environment.

Required are 8+ years in embedded systems, strong C/C++, and deep knowledge of secure firmware concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• 8+ years in embedded software/firmware for SoCs/ASICs.
• Strong C/C++ and low-level embedded development.
• Experience with bootloaders, ROM/board-support, drivers, or low-level firmware.
• Solid understanding of embedded architectures, memory maps, interrupts, peripherals.
• Experience debugging with JTAG, trace, or logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of secure boot, root of trust, key management, device identity, secure updates.
• Ability to collaborate with ASIC/hardware teams during pre-silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop ROM code, bootloaders, and runtime firmware for secure enclaves within custom ASICs.
• Design and implement firmware supporting secure boot, device attestation, and root-of-trust.
• Develop firmware infrastructure for OTA updates, recovery, and secure lifecycle management.
• Support manufacturing provisioning, including device identity and secure configuration.
• Develop and support secure debug, telemetry, tamper monitoring, and device recovery mechanisms.
• Collaborate with ASIC, security, software, and system teams to define interfaces and security requirements.
• Support pre-silicon firmware development and validation using simulation, emulation, FPGA, etc.
• Assist silicon bring-up, debugging, validation, and production deployment of secure-enclave firmware.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable embedded software with unit tests, code reviews, and documentation.
