Job summary

Apptronik in Austin is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop firmware for the dexterous hands of our humanoid robots. You will collaborate with the hands firmware team to implement, test, and debug embedded software driving motor control, sensor I/O, and real-time communications.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers as the hand progresses from prototype to production, contribute to hardware bring-up, and help build out HIL and SIL tests for hand firmware.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree requirement in EE/CE/ME or equivalent; Master’s preferred.
• Strong background in embedded firmware development for resource-constrained hardware.
• Experience with safety-critical standards (MISRA C, ISO 26262).
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python; familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and hardware tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and maintain firmware for dexterous hand designs, including motor control and sensor I/O.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to align firmware with evolving hardware; implement interfaces for tuning and validation.
• Design and execute HIL/SIL tests to validate performance, safety, and reliability at scale.
• Lead code reviews and contribute to firmware quality, telemetry, and diagnostics for fleet deployments.
• Support hand hardware bring-up from prototype to production; participate in cross-functional reviews.
