Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop firmware for the dexterous hands of our humanoid robots. You will collaborate with our hands firmware team to implement, test, and debug embedded software driving motor control, sensor I/O, and real-time communications.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers from prototype to production, contributing to hardware bring-up and building HIL/SIL tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CE/ME or equivalent; masters preferred in controls, motors, or embedded systems.
• 0–2 years of embedded software development; internships and projects welcome.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with Python, Docker, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for in-house dexterous hand designs, including motor control, sensor I/O, and real-time communications.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers as the hand design evolves; ensure firmware aligns with the design and interfaces are testable.
• Develop distributed embedded firmware networks; shape HIL and SIL testing strategies for scale, reliability, and safety.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and pair debugging with senior engineers.
• Contribute to tooling, build systems, and developer infrastructure for firmware.
