Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to shape embedded software and connected device experiences that bridge firmware, backend services, and customer-facing surfaces. The role influences architecture, technical direction, and engineering practices across complex systems for real-world devices.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous customer needs into scalable, high-impact product outcomes, while operating in a remote US-based setting with no visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software design, development, and deployment, focused on embedded firmware.
• Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership or architecture role.
• Deep expertise in an embedded domain (e.g., multimedia, connectivity, RTOS).
• Proficient in C/C++, Go, Python or similar.
• Experience shipping products across firmware and backend services.
• Strong systems thinking and customer-outcome focus.

Responsibilities

• Own outcomes from customer problems to shipped features across firmware, backend, and web/mobile.
• Drive technology choices and establish architectural patterns with lasting impact.
• Design systems considering device constraints, connectivity, and cloud services.
