Job summary

The System Engineer III, Firewalls at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) leads firewall administration, patching, VPN configuration, and security design across the university’s academic, research, and healthcare missions.

This role serves as a SME for network security, drives project work, and mentors peers while ensuring timely resolution of incidents and high customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and five years directly related experience; or a high school diploma and nine years directly related experience; or a Master’s degree and 3 years directly related experience required.
• 7+ years of Network experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, project management, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support network security services and projects.
• Resolve complex technical issues and provide guidance to peers and staff.
• Document processes and educate teams to reduce change disruption and improve efficiency.
