Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity, collaborating with local specialists and our Germany team. The role reports to the Charlottesville VA Office and involves advisory responsibilities on technically complex fire protection matters.

You will contribute to design of fire suppression, detection, smoke control systems, and egress strategies, while ensuring code compliance and project coordination across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
• QFPE on Federal projects preferred.
• Licensed Fire Protection Engineer in at least one US state required (by exam).

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection engineering for complex projects and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Perform design calculations using standard and vendor software.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams and manage project budgets/schedules.
• Prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and presentations with guidance from senior engineers.
• Mentor staff and drive quality assurance across projects.
