Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer in Denver to lead complex fire protection projects and mentor a growing team. This role requires independent work on large projects, plus leadership across all phases of project delivery.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in fire protection, PE or NICET IV, and strong code knowledge. Expect collaboration with clients, design teams, and vendors to deliver safe, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or NICET IV certification.
• Strong knowledge of Building codes and NFPA standards; UFC familiarity preferred.
• Ability to lead teams, review designs, and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, high‑complexity fire protection projects from concept through delivery.
• Conduct building, fire, and life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to clients.
• Develop design concepts via sketches, models, diagrams, and coordination with teams.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support business development through proposals and client interactions.
• Provide direct supervision and mentoring to staff to strengthen technical skills.
• Ensure quality assurance and control on own and peer projects.
