CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team and protect lives and property on critical infrastructure projects. You’ll design fire protection systems, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and sales to win work.

Based in a hybrid environment with offices nationwide, this role offers travel up to 10% and opportunities to work on federal, state, and local projects. You’ll apply NFPA, UFC, and industry standards to deliver reliable, resilient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including water supply, hydraulics, and sprinkler systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC and local regulations.
• Collaborate with sales for proposals and RFPs.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
• Perform site assessments and attend conferences to boost visibility.
