Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer I to coordinate, develop, and produce deliverables for fire protection design in Federal building projects. The role leads a multi-disciplinary team in a hybrid office setting with two days per week in the office.

The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will guide budget, schedule, and quality control, and is expected to work collaboratively in a studio or remote environment. PE and 10+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of fire protection design experience.
• PE certification in any US state and fire protection engineering exam.

Responsibilities

• Act as Designer of Record (DOR) for fire protection design projects including schedule, budget, delegation of work to junior staff, quality control and sealing/stamping construction drawings and specifications.
• Lead design staff and provide staffing development and mentoring for junior team members.
• Gather information, interview stakeholders, perform studies and calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches.
• Present findings and outcomes to clients and other stakeholders.
• Perform design and calculations for fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm systems.
• Oversee construction administration and respond to RFIs and Change Orders.
