Job summary

The City of Long Beach seeks a Deputy Fire Marshal to lead fire prevention teams, oversee plan reviews, and ensure compliance with local and state fire codes. The role requires evaluating proposals, coordinating with architects and developers, and guiding safety program development.

Under general supervision, you will supervise staff, analyze fire protection systems, enforce codes, and prepare reports while engaging with public agencies and the community to promote fire safety and prevention

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering or related field (proof required).
• Four years of paid full-time professional engineering experience in fire protection (proof required).
• ICC Fire Plans Examiner certification (proof required).

Responsibilities

• Supervise fire prevention staff and coordinate tasks.
• Review plans for compliance with fire codes and evaluate systems.
• Engage with architects, developers on fire protection requirements.
• Maintain files and prepare reports.
• Assist in enforcing fire codes and pursuing prosecutions.
