Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years fire service or related experience.
• Texas Fire Inspector certification required; Fire Investigator certification required; Arson Investigation license required within two years; Education/Training certifications within two years.

Responsibilities

• Investigate fires to determine origin and cause and enforce fire laws.
• Conduct fire safety inspections of buildings and equipment to identify hazards.
• Develop and deliver fire safety education programs to schools, businesses, and public groups.
• Coordinate fire prevention programs with volunteer firefighters and city initiatives.
• Prepare documentation for civil and criminal courts and testify when needed.
• Represent the City at civic events and educational presentations.
• Oversee and deliver classroom instruction on fire prevention and fire/life safety.

Education

Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Inspector certification

Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Investigator certification

Texas Commission on Fire Protection Arson Investigation license

Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Education Specialist Certification

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer certification

NFPA Plan Review certification

Valid Texas driver's license
