Job summary

The County of Riverside’s Fire Department seeks a Supervising Fire Marshal to lead the Fire Protection Contract Services Division in Perris. This senior role oversees plan review, inspections, and fire prevention programs across assigned units, ensuring compliance with fire codes and safety standards.

The position follows a 9/80 schedule, Monday through Friday, with opportunities to support incident command logistics and coordinate with partner jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible experience in plan review and fire inspections.
• Strong knowledge of fire and building codes and enforcement practices.
• Possession of Fire Inspector I and II and Plans Examiner coursework preferred.
• High school diploma or GED; transcripts may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate fire prevention programs and activities of the Fire Marshal division; oversee staffing, permitting and scheduling of inspection programs.
• Supervise daily activities of Fire Marshal personnel; conduct performance evaluations and ensure training.
• Review fire protection, building and development plans for conformance with codes; evaluate equipment and plans for effectiveness.
• Develop and implement goals and policies within the Fire Marshal division; assist in master fire plan development.
• Provide liaison with other departments and partner agencies; address inquiries and resolve issues.
