Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer to be based in Arlington, VA or New York, NY. This role will work on multi-site due diligence, design, development, testing, and inspection of fire protection and life safety systems across public and private sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of fire protection and life safety consulting on Federal projects.
• PE registration required.
• US citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret/Top Secret clearance.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements per ICC/NFPA.
• Review architectural drawings for compliance with fire and building codes.
• Design fire protection and life safety systems and associated analyses.
• Perform fire engineering calculations and smoke modelling.
• Assist in commissioning of fire protection systems on facilities.
• Interface with clients and coordinate with project teams.
• Develop project proposals and budgets; manage project finances.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to department initiatives.
• Prepare technical reports and specifications.
