Job summary

WSP USA Solutions Inc. is seeking a Lead Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer to work from Arlington, VA or New York, NY. This role involves delivering design, analysis, and compliance for fire protection systems on various projects.

The candidate should have 7+ years in fire protection consulting, PE license, and the ability to obtain/maintain security clearance. Revit and AutoCAD proficiency are essential, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in fire protection and life safety consulting on Federal projects.
• PE license is required.
• US citizenship is required due to client requirements.
• Ability to obtain/maintain US Government Secret/Top Secret clearance.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration.
• Proficiency in RevIT and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Interpret building code, life safety and fire code requirements (ICC/NFPA; IBC; NFPA 101).
• Review architectural drawings for code compliance.
• Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs.
• Produce fire safety strategy documents to inform the design process.
• Design fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection, alarms, smoke control, egress).
• Perform fire engineering calculations including smoke modeling and evacuation analyses.
• Assist in commissioning fire protection systems.
• Interface with clients and organize in-house resources.
• Develop project proposals and budgets; manage finances.
• Mentor junior staff; prepare technical reports.
