Job summary

Envista Forensics invites applications for a part-time Fire & Explosion Investigator in the Northern California area. The role requires 5+ years of practical fire investigation experience and a current IAAI CFI credential or eligibility to obtain within 6 months.

You will investigate origin and cause of fire/explosion events, collect evidence, interview witnesses and prepare formal reports, adhering to NFPA 921/1033 standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a fire investigator (public and/or private sector).
• IAAI CFI required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire (NAFI-CFEI acceptable).
• Bondable and eligible for private investigator licensing where required.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in catastrophic environments for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and analyzes origin and cause of fire and explosion events per NFPA 921 and 1033.
• Collects evidence and documents scenes per NFPA 921 & 1033.
• Photographs incident sites and preserves/relinquishes evidence per client instructions.
• Interviews witnesses and canvasses neighborhoods to identify additional witnesses.
• Identifies and analyzes compliance with fire suppression and detection systems.
• Researches failure modes and codes and prepares recommendations for stakeholders.
• Prepares accurate, clear reports outlining causes and damages for clients.
• Works with multi-disciplinary teams on large, complex assignments.
• Maintains relationships with current clients and consultants.
