Job summary

Envista Forensics is seeking a part-time Fire & Explosion Investigator to serve the San Antonio and Austin area. If you hold a CFI and have hands-on experience investigating origin and cause of fires, this role offers challenging investigations across residential, commercial, and industrial sites.

You will collect evidence, photograph scenes, interview witnesses, review codes, and prepare clear reports for clients, working with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire investigation experience.
• IAAI CFI required or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• NAFI-CFEI certification preferred.
• Must be bondable and eligible for private investigator licensing where required.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and analyzes origin and cause of fire/explosion events in residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
• Collects evidence and documents scenes per NFPA 921 & 1033; photographs incident sites and preserves evidence for review.
• Interviews witnesses and canvasses neighborhoods to identify additional witnesses; coordinates with fire services personnel and local officials.
• Generates clear, accurate reports and letters outlining findings; ensures timely submissions per client standards.
