Job summary

Box, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our FinOps-driven cloud spend forecasting for public cloud and AI services.

You’ll guide a talented team of engineers and data scientists, building scalable tooling on GCP/BigQuery and translating complex signals into actionable executive insights. You’ll partner with Cloud Ops, SRE, Data, and Finance, driving cost optimization while maintaining performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience leading mid-to-senior ICs.
• Fluency in Python, BigQuery and SQL with hands-on background.
• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform and large datasets.
• Proven ownership, proactive delivery, and cross-functional influence.
• Executive-ready communication for audiences from engineers to C-suite.
• Background in FinOps, SRE, data engineering/science or internal tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the forecast for Box’s cloud spend and AI services.
• Lead an engineering-first FinOps team to build scalable tooling on GCP/BigQuery.
• Translate usage and cost signals into clear insights for execs and partners.
• Identify and drive optimization initiatives to protect outcomes.
• Establish dashboards and metrics to raise visibility and speed decisions.
• Coach senior ICs and maintain high bar for code quality and rigor.
• Coordinate with Cloud Ops, Data, and Finance to align plans and ROI.
• Extend cost governance to SaaS platforms and AI services.
• Manage on-call rotation and improve incident response.
