Job summary

Ohio Department of Natural Resources seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Division of Water Resources in Columbus, OH. The role analyzes financial data, supports grant management for federal programs, and builds complex reports using FIN, Ohio Buys, Excel and Access.

Ideal candidates have 42+ months in accounting/finance with strong spreadsheet skills, a related degree, and experience forecasting and reconciling accounts. Salary is hourly with COLA potential and state pay progression.

Qualifications

• 42 months of accounting/finance experience with advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Undergraduate degree in business admin, accounting, or finance; 18 months of related experience acceptable.
• Graduate degree in business admin, accounting, or finance; 6 months of related experience acceptable.
• 12 months of experience as Financial Analyst or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develops, reviews & synthesizes data from multiple financial sources to develop reports for leadership and stakeholders.
• Administers fiscal aspects of several federal grants for the Floodplains, Dam Safety, and H2Ohio programs.
• Designs and builds custom financial reports in FIN, Ohio Buys, Access and Excel.
• Reconciles disputes and assists budgeting with forecasting and trend analysis.

What You Will Do…

• Develops, reviews & synthesizes data from multiple financial sources to develop & explain reports, charts, tables to chief, managers, & other internal & external stakeholders
• Administers fiscal aspects of several federal grants for the
  

Floodplains, Dam Safety, and H2Ohio Programs

• Designs & builds custom financial reports in various computer systems (e.g., Financials module of Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (FIN), Ohio Buys, Access, Excel)
• Serves as liaison in troubleshooting any financial issues, questions, concerns or communications (e.g., audits, Ohio Office of Shared Services (OSS))
• Reconciles & resolves disputes with any accounts outside of Ohio Treasurer of State (TOS); updates & recommends changes in fiscal use & policy
• Assists budget office with forecasting & trend analysis of existing & expected funds
• Starting hourly pay of $31.47/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 7.5 years of service, with an end salary of $46.08/hr.
• There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates OCSEA Employees | Department of Administrative Services.

42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

• Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
• Or completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
• Or 12 mos. exp as Financial Analyst, 66562.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
