Job summary

The State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water in Franklin County, seeks a Natural Resources Engineer 1 to support reviews of dam and levee plans, perform hydrologic analyses, and conduct site inspections statewide.

Starting pay is $31.47 per hour with raises through the first 7.5 years, potential COLA, and FE/EIT certification requirement within 180 days.

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who want to play a key role for the position Natural Resources Engineer 1 within the Division of Water assigned to Franklin County. Job Description

What you will do:

  • Assist in reviews of detailed construction plans and specifications for dams and levees for compliance with appropriate criteria and make recommendations for approval, disapproval, or modification of the plans to project manager.
  • Assist with detailed hydrologic, hydraulic and stability analyses of embankments that includes analysis of spillways and other appurtenances to evaluate their integrity and safety.
  • Travel to dam sites throughout the state of Ohio to conduct and assist with detailed engineering inspections of existing and proposed dams.
  • Prepare, assist, and review written reports of inspections
  • Starting hourly pay of $31.47hr with multiple pay increases over your first 7.5 years of service, with an end salary of $46.08/hr.
  • There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates OCSEA Employees | Department of Administrative Services .

    TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:

    Must test & pass Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam & be issued valid Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate by State Licensing Board within 180 days of start date.

Qualifications

Engineering degree from recognized school or college which has been accredited by accreditation board for engineering & technology or that has been evaluated by National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES) Credentials Evaluations as meeting the NCEES Engineering Education Standard.
