Description

The Senior Financial Accountant assists with overseeing critical financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with Mass General Laws, procurement laws, Town financial policies, and Bylaws. This position performs varied and responsible functions requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations, judgment, and initiative, especially in situations not clearly defined by precedent or procedures. Responsibilities include posting cash receipts, maintaining deposit schedules and charge codes, reconciliations, processing journal entries, grants management, supporting audits, reporting, and supporting payroll and accounts payable functions. Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience; municipal experience preferred.
• Certifications: MCPPO designation or ability to obtain preferred.

Knowledge, Ability, and Skills

• Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; municipal accounting experience preferred.
• General knowledge of applicable Massachusetts General Laws.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
