Job summary

Thunderbird is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounting & Finance to lead its finance function for a growing, remote-first organization. The role oversees accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and operations, with responsibility for budgeting, reporting, and compliance across international operations.

You will guide a small but growing team and partner with leadership to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in accounting, FP&A, and finance operations.
• US GAAP financial reporting, close processes, and internal controls.
• Experience with subscription, SaaS, or tech revenue models.
• People management and leadership in finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Thunderbird’s finance function including accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and operations.
• Develop and coach finance team with clear priorities and accountability.
• Oversee monthly/annual close, reporting, reconciliations, and controls.
• Oversee accounting and revenue recognition across donations, subscriptions, enterprise, partnerships.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Create management reports and visualizations for key decisions.
• Oversee tax, audits, indirect tax, VAT/GST, and external advisers.
• Evaluate implications of new jurisdictions or entities.
• Establish financial reporting for partner-led arrangements.
• Oversee payroll across providers with People team.
• Strengthen finance systems, workflows, and documentation.
• Oversee cash-flow planning, treasury, and banking.
• Advise leaders with clear financial recommendations.
