Job summary

Quantum is seeking a Senior Filesystem Engineer to join the StorNext engineering team. You will design, enhance, debug, and maintain core StorNext components, focusing on enterprise filesystem internals, kernel-level development, and large-scale storage management.

The ideal candidate has strong systems programming experience, good engineering judgment, and the ability to drive complex work from investigation through delivery while collaborating with engineering, QA, support, and product

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional filesystem software development experience in C/C++.
• Strong scripting experience with Python, Perl, bash, or similar tools for automation and diagnostics.
• Proficiency with Git in a collaborative software development environment.
• Strong Linux development experience; Windows development or cross-platform experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex technical problems and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience debugging complex systems-level issues using tracing, logging, profiling, crash analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across engineering, QA, support, product, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, enhance, and maintain StorNext Filesystem (SNFS) components including kernel-resident module, user-level manager, utilities, quotas, and tools.
• Lead investigation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolution of defects across StorNext with cross-functional teams.
• Drive code reviews, design discussions, validation planning, and technical decisions to improve reliability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and promote engineering best practices.
