Job summary

DDN is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to drive the ongoing development of a high-performance, S3‑compliant file system. You will lead design, coding in C/C++, and cross-team collaboration to deliver robust storage solutions.

You will mentor teams, architect system components, and ensure timely deployment and production defect resolution, working with global teams. Strong Linux expertise and Open Source toolchain mastery are required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of system software development and complex problem resolution.
• Expert knowledge of C/C++ programming languages.
• Excellent Linux development and deployment skills including FS work.
• Solid understanding of OS principles and kernel architecture.
• Experience with GCC, GDB, G++, and Git in open-source toolchains.
• Proven ability to design and implement parallel programs.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Familiarity with Linux file systems and storage concepts.
• Knowledge of user-space IO frameworks such as Fuse and SPDK.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend, and improve our S3 implementation.
• Design and develop in C/C++ under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• Define and articulate technical designs with the appropriate details
• Full application development from design to development to testing to deployment
• Participate in technical reviews throughout the course of development
• Architecture and troubleshooting of system level components, especially the file system and related storage system components.
• Undertake research based technical tasks: Define research approach, document results and derive conclusions. Should be able to design a solution based on the research conducted
• Mentor junior developers
• Support product deployment and production defect resolution in a timely manner
