Job summary

UES in Phoenix is searching for a Field Technician II to support geotechnical engineering, environmental services, materials testing, and inspection projects. You will perform advanced field and laboratory testing, conduct on-site inspections, and ensure construction and environmental projects meet industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or related.
• ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing certification preferred or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles.
• Commitment to safety and OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Field Data Collection software.
• Mathematical skills to work with units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, and reports.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to work variable schedules including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Ensure testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies.
• Collect, label, and transport material samples to laboratories for analysis, maintaining sample integrity.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper functioning according to guidelines.
• Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results for project managers and stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers with real-time updates.
• Mentor and support junior field technicians on procedures, testing methods, and safety practices.
• Follow OSHA, company, and client safety protocols and use of PPE.
• Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work.
• Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle and schedule routine maintenance.
• Travel to job sites within the designated region; overnight stays as needed.
• Flexible to work early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel.
• Perform additional duties to support company initiatives and project success.
