Job summary

United Utility Services in the United States is seeking a Survey Technician III to perform advanced field inspections, pole data collection, and conductor observations with minimal supervision. This role requires strong T&D knowledge, and the ability to work independently under varying field conditions.

You will guide junior technicians, support QA/QC, manage data uploads, and travel frequently, including overnight stays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years field survey or related experience.
• Experience in T&D utility environments with poles, conductors, and equipment.
• Proficient with field data collection apps, tablets, and laptops.
• Proficient in field photography and meeting photo standards.
• Working proficiency with handheld and ground-based LiDAR.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project documentation tools.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willing to travel frequently with overnight stays.
• Strong communication skills and safety-focused professionalism.
• Commitment to field safety, quality, and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ground-based pole inspections, capturing complete pole data.
• Conduct conductor and wire observations using strong T&D knowledge.
• Perform hammer sounding and testing on wood poles with documentation.
• Capture field photography to company and client standards.
• Operate LiDAR equipment, manage data collection parameters and quality.
• Adapt inspection approach to site complexity and access constraints.
• Review data for completeness and accuracy to ensure QA/QC.
• Support QA/QC and communicate issues to Field Survey Supervisor.
• Mentor Survey Technician I/II on field practices and standards.
• Organize, label, transfer, and upload field data per protocols.
• Provide field logistics support to UAS crews when assigned.
• Travel frequently and maintain safety and professional conduct.
