Job summary

Merit General Contractors seeks a Superintendent to lead on-site field operations for commercial construction projects. You will partner with the Project Manager to maintain schedules, coordinate procurements, and resolve constructability issues while upholding Merit safety and quality standards.

You will direct daily activities, oversee field teams, review drawings, RFIs, and submittals, and maintain professional relationships with owners, inspectors, and trade partners.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive commercial construction field experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading commercial construction projects or major project phases.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, logistics, safety, quality, and inspections.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and schedules.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, conflict-resolution, and subcontractor-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct all day-to-day field operations for assigned projects.
• Develop the field execution plan, site logistics plan, phasing strategy, and sequencing approach.
• Partner with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and update the Microsoft Project master schedule.
• Develop and lead three-week look-ahead schedules and communicate near-term expectations to subcontractors.
• Conduct daily coordination and weekly subcontractor meetings focused on safety, manpower, sequencing, constraints, and commitments.
• Coordinate subcontractor manpower, deliveries, equipment, access, laydown, temporary facilities, and site logistics.
• Enforce Merit safety requirements and ensure subcontractors comply with project-specific safety plans and OSHA requirements.
