Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Field Services Technician to support the installation, transition, and sustainment of next-generation Voice Communication Switch systems. This role entails site preparation, cutover execution, and decommissioning in operational environments with extensive travel, up to 95%.

You will lead site surveys, perform system cutovers, and conduct independent testing while maintaining documentation and safety standards. US citizenship and a public trust clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD; 12 years in lieu of degree
• US Citizen with ability to obtain a public trust clearance
• Hands-on experience with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems or similar mission-critical voice platforms
• Experience supporting system cutovers, migrations, or technology refresh efforts
• Knowledge of Telecommunications infrastructure
• VoIP technologies
• Cabling standards and power validation
• Networked voice systems
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause diagnostic skills
• Experience using test equipment and diagnostic tools in field environments
• Familiarity with operational environments where uptime and reliability are critical

Responsibilities

• Lead and support site surveys, site preparation, and system installation
• Execute and support VCS system cutovers from legacy to next-generation systems
• Perform decommissioning of legacy voice systems
• Conduct independent system testing and validation
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VCS and telecom/IT infrastructure
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve voice, network, and hardware faults
• Support preventive maintenance and system health checks
• Provide on-site customer support and end-user orientation/training
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and cutover records
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, site security, and standards
• Coordinate with engineers, program teams, and other field technicians during deployment
