Job summary

Signode is seeking a field service technician based in the Chicago, IL area to install, service, and train customers on a wide range of industrial packaging equipment. This role requires frequent travel with overnight stays and the ability to manage schedules across multiple sites.

You will diagnose, repair, and retrofit equipment, read complex schematics, and support Signode technicians while maintaining strict safety standards and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• High School or technical degree required.
• 4–5 years of transferable experience.
• Experience with Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• PLC experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety-compliant service tasks and document activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for installation, repair, and upgrades.
• Provide technical support and training to Signode technicians.
• Schedule and manage service calls with accuracy and timeliness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment using mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic methods.
• Coordinate pre-installation meetings with customers and inspect sites for compatibility.
• Identify upgrade and retrofit opportunities and assist with quotations.
• Prepare non-conformance reports and service bulletins.
