Job summary

UNITED MACHINING North America LLC in Northern Alabama is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to install, service, and maintain precision machinery for customers. You will diagnose machine issues, perform tests, and collaborate with Applications and Diagnostics teams to resolve problems and improve knowledge base.

The role requires 6+ years in manufacturing or machine tool environments, a mechanical/electrical engineering background, and proficiency with Power BI and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering; 6+ years' experience in manufacturing or machine tool companies.
• Experience with test equipment and EDM and/or Milling machines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Power BI required; able to manage editorial calendars and use social platforms; knowledge of Great Plains or similar ERP helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and service of machines and related equipment.
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance with minimal assistance per documentation.
• Identify problems and seek corrective action during product life cycle.
• Analyze and resolve application problems of limited complexity with Applications team for more complex issues.
• Resolve machining problems by analyzing regular test cuts per documentation.
• Support action items like Customer Alerts with technical information and status updates.
• Provide technical assistance to Field Service Engineers on complex problems.
• Conduct training for team members and customers on safe operation and maintenance of machines.
• Act as communication link between customer and company to ensure effective service.
• Accurately complete all reports per service department procedures.
• Adhere to Service Department Code of Conduct Guidelines.
• Maintain contact with Diagnostics Team and Advanced Technical Support for assignments and updates.
• Complete additional tasks as requested by Technology Manager or Head of Customer Care
