Senior Field Service Engineer – Electrical Drives

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer – Electrical Drives to support complex electrical drive and control equipment used in industrial and marine applications.

This is a hands‑on field role focused on commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support. The position requires strong electrical knowledge, independent problem‑solving ability, and frequent travel to customer sites across the U.S. and, at times, internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, startup, testing, and servicing of electrical drive systems.
• Troubleshoot drive, motor‑control, and related electrical/control issues.
• Support equipment installation, maintenance, modernization, and upgrade activities.
• Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions in the field.
• Conduct system‑performance checks and functional testing.
• Provide technical guidance and support directly to customers.
• Prepare accurate service reports, test records, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering and service teams on complex technical issues.
• Lead field activities or small technical teams when required.
• Support scheduled and emergency service requirements.
• Maintain compliance with customer, site, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical field service, commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
• Hands‑on experience with industrial drive systems, variable‑frequency drives, variable‑speed drives, motor controls, or similar electrical equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with equipment startup and commissioning.
• Ability to work independently in customer‑facing field environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently, including occasional short‑notice assignments.

Preferred Background

• Degree or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with low‑ or medium‑voltage drive equipment.
• Experience with industrial automation, motor‑control, or power‑conversion systems.Previous work in marine, offshore, shipyard, heavy industrial, or similarly demanding technical environments.
• Experience leading technical field assignments.

Travel & Work Environment

This is a travel‑intensive field position. Assignments may involve work at industrial facilities, customer sites, shipyards, vessels, or offshore locations depending on business requirements.

Candidates must be comfortable working in field environments and able to meet applicable site and safety requirements.

Location

Multiple U.S. locations may be considered. Candidates located in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region, including Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, are of particular interest.
