Job summary

Shimmick Corporation seeks an experienced Project Engineer to provide field project engineering and project management for the Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit in Santa Cruz, CA.

The role involves coordinating with field teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and project staff to ensure schedule adherence, cost control, and safety compliance in a fast-paced environment. A strong technical background in heavy civil construction and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience on Northern California heavy civil projects preferred.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to field crews, ensuring accurate interpretation of drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Oversee layout, surveying, and grade control to maintain project accuracy.
• Help manage and implement construction methodologies and best practices in collaboration with the superintendent and project team.
• Reports to and support superintendent in day-to-day tasks.
• Management of subcontractors scopes to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Coordination and interface with other stakeholders which includes inspectors, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Management of assigned Force Account work.
