Shimmick is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the Wastewater Treatment Facility Headworks Rehabilitation Project in Santa Cruz, CA. The role emphasizes field execution, quality, and safety.

You will provide technical support to field crews, oversee layout and surveying, manage subcontractors, and help keep schedules and costs on track. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and at least four years of heavy civil experience, with proficiency in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; 4 years of heavy civil experience or equivalent.
• Experience in heavy civil construction and understanding of construction methods, means, and materials.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to field crews, ensuring accurate interpretation of drawings, specs and contract requirements.
• Oversee layout, surveying and grade control to maintain project accuracy.
• Manage subcontractors’ scopes to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate and interface with inspectors, subcontractors and suppliers; manage assigned Force Account work.
• Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and as-built documentation.
