HRUCKUS, a veteran-owned consulting firm in Washington, DC, seeks a Senior Field Network Engineer for a hybrid assignment with the District Department of Transportation. You will design, deploy, and operate a secure, highly available ITS network connecting traffic signals, CCTV platforms, and IoT devices.

This role combines field and data center work, leveraging DMVPN, IPsec, and dynamic routing with emphasis on uptime, safety, and mission-critical reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in network engineering or related field
• Experience with ITS or traffic management systems
• Active CCNA or equivalent certification
• Knowledge of DMVPN, VPN technologies, and secure overlays

Responsabilités

• Deploy and support Cisco DMVPN hub-and-spoke and spokes-to-spoke overlays
• Configure and troubleshoot IPsec, GRE, NHRP, and tunnel interfaces for DMVPN
• Implement dynamic routing (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP) over DMVPN
• Design failover/redundancy including LTE/5G backups
• Monitor tunnel health, latency, and throughput across VPN connections
• Coordinate with providers on Metro Ethernet provisioning and incident resolution
• Manage dual-WAN redundancy and field equipment handovers
• Perform field installations and cutovers of routers, switches, cabinets, and handoff gear
• Manage VLANs, IP addressing, and L2/L3 connectivity between sites and data centers
• Apply network segmentation and QoS for ITS traffic; ensure encrypted communications
