DDOT is seeking a hands-on Field Network Engineer to serve as a senior technical resource within the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program. You will design, deploy, and operate a secure, highly available ITS network spanning traffic signals, CCTV, and IoT devices across Washington, DC.

The role leverages Metro Ethernet transport with a Cisco DMVPN overlay, requiring field and data center work with a strong focus on uptime, safety, and reliability in mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and support Cisco DMVPN hub-and-spoke overlay networks across Metro Ethernet transport.
• Configure and troubleshoot IPsec VPN, GRE tunnels, and tunnel interfaces.
• Implement dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) over DMVPN for failover.
• Design redundancy with LTE/5G backup paths for uninterrupted connectivity.
• Monitor tunnel health, latency, and throughput for performance.
