Job summary
VDOT is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to implement and support the agency's IT network infrastructure in Mechanicsville, VA. The role covers day-to-day activities including documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of network-related infrastructure.
Candidates should have in-depth knowledge, field experience with enterprise routers/switches, VPNs, firewalls, and SD-WAN. Certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA are preferred and 8+ years of relevant experience demanded.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting local-area and wide-area enterprise networks.
- Experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Ability to document network architectures and create topology diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of SD-WAN and cloud networking concepts.
- Industry standard networking certification (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA).
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
- Document configurations, IP schemes, and firewall rules.
- Collaborate with cloud/DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity.
- Assist in upgrades and deployments of network infrastructure.
- Monitor performance and ensure uptime.
