Job summary

Tectonic Engineering in Forest Hills, NY seeks a Senior Resident Engineer to supervise construction from NTP to close-out on public infrastructure projects. You will lead field inspection staff, coordinate with project teams, and ensure safety and quality compliance across water and wastewater sites.

Required: NY P.E. license, 10+ years in heavy civil, experience as Resident Engineer, and strong proficiency in MS Office and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Valid Professional Engineering License in NY with a related bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of 10 years in construction management for heavy civil infrastructure.
• Experience as Resident Engineer on heavy infrastructure and NYCDEP familiarity.
• Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, estimating and scheduling software, and online collaboration tools.
• Ability to read and interpret written specs and construction documents.
• Strong communication with clients, supervisors, and inspectors on specifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervises construction activities from NTP through close-out and ensures timely completion.
• Oversees field construction to ensure contract compliance and codes.
• Leads field inspection staff on infrastructure projects.
• Coordinates all phases of construction inspection for water/wastewater projects.
• Reviews daily contractor schedules and updates project milestones.
• Prepares and certifies contractor pay applications with supporting docs.
• Documents contractor performance and enforces policies.
• Monitors safety programs and corrective actions.
• Issues change orders and field memos in coordination with the project team.
• Collaborates with Project Managers, clients, and city officials on scope changes.
