Job summary

Tectonic Engineering is seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to support our Water Resources Group on NYCDEP infrastructure projects throughout the Hudson Valley. This full-time, on-site role requires a BS in engineering, 5 years of construction experience, and proficiency with construction software.

You will coordinate with contractors, prepare reports, review drawings, and help manage schedules and close-out tasks.

Qualifications

• Must possess BS Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology or an acceptable field
• Minimum of 5 years of construction experience; experience as an Office Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer on infrastructure projects preferred
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, codes, and regulatory requirements
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies
• Excellent organization, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
• Proficiency with E-Builder, Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera, or related construction software
• Requires a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely receipt and organization of contractor documentation in accordance with contract specifications
• Prepare and maintain project status reports, progress updates, and stakeholder communications
• Track and manage project drawings, revisions, and documentation workflows
• Verify that Change Orders and Time & Material work are properly recorded in Daily Inspector Reports
• Draft and review change orders for completeness and compliance with contract terms
• Attend construction progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes and monthly reports
• Support oversight of sub-consultants through effective coordination and communication
• Assist the Resident Engineer in monitoring construction schedules and identifying potential delays
• Contribute to project close-out efforts, including As-Built drawings, final documentation, and resolution of outstanding issues
• Perform additional duties as needed to support successful project delivery.
