Job summary

TUV SUD America is seeking an experienced engineer to conduct field labeling evaluations and perform client-site testing across various industries in the United States.

The role requires 7+ years of inspection experience, deep knowledge of US standards such as NFPA/UL, and frequent travel to client sites. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to process and test strategy improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum 7 years of inspection and test experience evaluating products to ANSI/NFPA/UL/EN/IEC standards.
• Experience with NEC NFPA 70 and US standards (e.g., NFPA 79, UL508A, UL61010-1, UL61800-5-1, UL2202, ANSI/RIA R15.06, UL 1740, UL9450).
• Ability to travel frequently to US client sites (75%-90% travel).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills; solid technical writing and interpersonal skills.
• Strong engineering knowledge and understanding of testing requirements, manufacturing processes, drawings, and standards.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field labeling evaluations in accordance with program requirements and applicable test standards.
• Schedule and execute evaluations at client sites, ensuring timely completion.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers as a key contact.
• Demonstrate knowledge of US regulatory standards and code requirements (e.g., ANSI/NFPA/UL).
• Liaise with staff to ensure consistency of methods and interpretations.
• Promote process improvements and development of new test requirements and strategies.
• Provide travel and expense cost estimates as requested.
• Report and track defects; record data and generate test documents and reports (SOPs, datasheets, methods).
• Review pre-evaluation documents to understand objectives before service start.
