Job summary

TÜV Rheinland North America is seeking a Field Evaluation Test Engineer to conduct on-site evaluations, inspections, and testing of products to verify compliance with safety standards. The role requires extensive travel, independent work at customer sites, and clear communication of findings to clients.

The candidate will act as a front-line representative, performing electrical and mechanical evaluations and developing technical reports, with opportunities to mentor junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with testing, inspection, certification, or field engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems and safety principles.
• Familiarity with industry standards and hazard assessment methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel extensively and work independently.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field evaluations, inspections, testing, and assessments to determine compliance with safety standards.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, and laboratory analyses as needed to support evaluation activities.
• Interpret and apply industry standards and certification requirements during evaluations.
• Document findings and prepare detailed technical reports communicating compliance status and hazards.
• Evaluate results and provide technical conclusions and recommendations.
• Install, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot testing equipment.
• Assist with development of new testing methodologies and procedures.
• Manage sample handling, return, and disposal when required.
• Identify hazards and assess risks in customer environments.
• Serve as primary on-site technical contact for customers during evaluations.
