Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Senior Field Evaluation Engineer to lead complex field projects assessing electrical equipment for code compliance.

You will guide testing, interpretation of standards, and on-site evaluations across industrial and commercial technologies while engaging customers and AHJs. The role requires strong engineering expertise, independent project management, and frequent travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3–8 years in field evaluations, product safety engineering or related field.
• Expert knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes and electrical safety standards.
• Ability to independently manage complex technical projects and customer relations.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex field evaluation projects from initiation through final reporting.
• Determine scope, evaluation methodology, testing needs and documentation.
• Conduct on-site evaluations of electrical equipment for regulatory compliance.
• Interpret electrical codes and safety standards for non-standard equipment.
• Develop evaluation plans, test procedures and acceptance criteria.
• Perform electrical testing, measurements, and hazard assessments.
• Serve as primary technical contact for customers and regulators.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to procedures and tools.
