WSP is seeking a Principle Assistant Resident Engineer for the San Bernardino or Irvine, CA offices. The role oversees complex construction management projects, guiding field engineering and inspection activities, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders across agencies and contractors.

The position requires a California PE license, 10+ years of experience (5 as lead), and strong safety, communication, and decision-making skills. Compensation reflects seniority and geographic location.

Qualifications

• BSCE or related degree required.
• Current California PE license required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience, 5 as lead worker.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
• Valid CA driver’s license.
• Solid written and verbal skills.
• Experience working with railroads.
• Proven track record of workplace safety and policy compliance.
• Must pass WSP Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Understand public construction contracts for state highways and local agencies.
• Respond to and resolve field construction issues.
• Lead meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties.
• Inspect and document field tests of construction materials.
• Analyze costs of changed conditions and draft change orders.
